Man Utd 1 Crawley Town 0

So Man Utd won the match against the non leaguers, but Alex Ferguson certainly wasn't overjoyed by his teams performance - "Credit to them" said the Scotsman, "they deserved a draw for their commitment in the second half, when we weren't at the races and never had a shot at goal".  He went on to say "We were second to every ball then, which was disappointing. Maybe some players don't understand what the FA Cup's about".

I assume that by "some players" he means the foreign players?  But increasingly, if the FA Cup is becoming that lame duck that all the pundits speak about, English players will begin to view it similarly.  Indeed I wouldn't be surprised if the younger players - Jack Wilshere for example - may already see it in this manner.

These kids have grown up watching the best of the best; not for them Hereford v Newcastle, but Arsenal v Barcelona!  All the kudos in football - European based football at least - now lies with the Champions League closely followed by ones own domestic league.  The cup competitions are merely a consolation prize.  This has long been the case on the continent, and it is now very much the case here.  The tradition and romance of the FA Cup has been usurped by the glitz and £££££ of the Champions League.  It's meat pies versus prawn sandwiches and the prawns have won the day!

Quotes for gamblers

Money won is twice as sweet as money earned.  ~From the movie The Color of Money

Depend on the rabbit's foot if you will, but remember it didn't work for the rabbit.  ~R.E. Shay

If you must play, decide upon three things at the start: the rules of the game, the stakes, and the quitting time.  ~Chinese Proverb

Welcome

Well hello and thanks for coming by.  The purpose of this blog is to interact with other gamblers keen to leave 'mug' punting behind, and in a considered fashion take the bookies to the cleaners - well take more money off them than they take off us at least.  I have a system with regards football match betting, that has seen me at the very least hold my own with the bookies for the last 3 years.  Tips here are free.  What you do with them is up to you!

Of course gambling responsibly is key!  We lost my childhood home because of indiscriminate 'mug' punting - basically my step dad stopped paying the mortgage and instead used the money to bet on dud greyhounds and horses.  Muppet!  It's an old adage but only bet what you can afford to lose!

Profitable gambling requires diligence and discipline.  Never is it a good idea to bet off the hoof without having first done your homework about the prospects of a match or a race.  Yeah you might have a winner in the short term, but if you are interested in long term profitability, then it is vital to know that the odds truly are in your favour before parting with your stake.
